Smile

Good morning........

SMILE...even if you don't feel like it. Your smile may be the only one that person (who needs it) may get that day. It's so contagious!

Get Along/Keep Infomed/Have Respect

Hi again...............this is from a Principal/Superintendent

Keep the guy/gal in charge informed of what's going on...if they are part of it, more good things can happen.. He also said, "It's great to be in good with the Principal, but actually have much respect for the Janitor as he can probably do you even more good."

Trust

Hi all...or in Texas they say Hi y'all...A first Blog from am amateur blogger but a many-yeared teacher (if there is such a word)

This is called "TRUST". One of the early things that my class heard from me and about me was that Truth is a most basic part of any relationship...importantly teacher-student. A story to wit: early in the year, my class heard me say several times that I expected them to tell me the truth and if they did I would support or back them in any situation. The occasion arose as such: (our High School and Grade School shared a common parking lot and gym so students would be in the same areas at times.) Gary, my student was accused by a High School student of some definite infraction of rules...interestingly enough, I have no remembrance of what that part of the story was...in discussing the situation, Gary said that he had nothing to do with this and I said "Are you telling me the truth, and he said yes". At that point, we, (Gary and I) went up to the High School Principal's office...small school, one Principal... I told the gentleman that my student had nothing to do with the occasion and he said "Okay, forget it"... I refused and asked to have the High School student called to the office. After threatening almost a "Sit-in" if he didn't, the student was called. When asked about the situation, he admitted that my student, Gary, had nothing to do with it and was just in the area at the time. just a fun thing messing with a grade school student. After he apologized (at my request), we left. Many, many years later, this same Gary met me in our town. He said that he had to look me up since he had moved East but was in town for a few days. He stated that he never forgot that "Trust and Truth" situation and had used this example in his teaching and with his children. Teachers must establish a bond of "Support and Trust" with their students!!! I can hear the "Oh yeah, not with today's kids"...but give them a chance and remember ALWAYS keep YOUR word. Enough for now. GOD BLESS!!

You have such an important part in your students' lives...respect them as you wish to be respected.
